The cooperation with Uzbekistan dates back to 1992 when PO AZOT Fergana, Uzbekistan, joined MBNS, spol. s r.o. joint venture; the first contract for the delivery of equipment for BNG totalling 5.6 million US dollars was signed in October 1992.
The cooperation would continue by the implementation of other partial projects, and another six contracts totalling 10 million US dollars were signed in 1994; however, they have not been implemented for insufficient financial resources.
At the turn of 1997/1998 the works on the project of final completion of nitric acid production unit with a capacity of 360 thousand tons/year and ammonium nitrate production unit with a capacity of 450 thousand tons/year were started. The contract totalling 50.6 million US dollars was signed by the customer on 17 November 1999 and became effective on 4 September 2001 upon the commencement of the whole project financing. For the Uzbek customer, MBNS ensured 100% export financing consisting of an consumer credit (85%) provided by the Prague office of ING Bank and insured by EGAP against the government guarantee issued in favour of the Republic of Uzbekistan and of a commercial credit (15%) insured also by ING Bank N.V., Prague, Czech Republic.
The contract covered the designing, material and equipment deliveries, including control system, chief assembly, commissioning, and hand-over of both units to the customer.
MBNS met all the commitments that had arisen out of the contract, and the units were handed-over to the customer on 16 October 2003.
